Our "World Wars" trip to Ireland and France

Monday, March 2, 2015
For some very strange reason, I was not able to post to the blog while in Europe.  Luckily, I kept a "hard copy" journal, so I'm ready to  reconstruct this amazing trip!  Dear, sweet Robin took us to the ATL airport to begin our journey.  We used Delta miles to purchase Business Class tickets, so we settled in at the Delta Sky Lounge for a light lunch and some relaxing time prior to boarding. Unfortunately, our boarding time was delayed for a couple of hours, and then once on the plane, the push back was delayed as a bag had to be removed because of a no-show customer.  Finally, we were off, almost.  We were number three for take off when the pilot announced that we were returning to the gate because the "engine light" came on!  We sat, and sat, and sat at the gate.  At this point, I had resigned myself to the fact that we'd be spending the night in New York!  I was also super concerned because a snow storm was predicted for the next day!  Drats!  I was sound asleep when the pilot announced that the hydraulic system had been repaired, and we were cleared for departure.  This total delay was about four hours, but we were just grateful to be on our way. The pilot made up some of our 5 hour 52 minute journey, so that we landed around 10:00 AM Dublin time, to a gorgeous sunny day.
