On the road again - Irish style - Sunday, March 8, 2015

If we had only one day to capture the epitome of Irish landscape, today would have to be the day! We began our day by driving onto a ferry that would take our car across the Shannon River.  To add to the dramatics, we were sitting next to an "animal trailer" containing a very unhappy bull! Not only was he rocking his trailer, he was rocking our ferry!  Once on the other side, we drove to the Cliffs of KilKee!  OMG!!!!  It was a blustery day, so the waves were crashing into the cliffs with amazing force.  Foam was actually floating through the air just like snow.  The emerald waves collided with the massive rocks, creating a scene that was absolutely captivating.  I took SO many pictures, because I was convinced that each moment was one that would never be duplicated.  It was difficult to tear oneself from this place!  We met a couple of lovely local gals, who took our pictures AND recommend a destination, as well as a  restaurant for this evening. We eventually enjoyed another delicious fish and chips lunch with a seaside view, before finally leaving this postcard worthy location!
We drove to the Burrens, Ireland's equivalent to "Jamestown and Williamsburg" but on a much older scale.  We saw rock upon rock formations, castles, and even a horse drawn carriage.  We decided to spend the evening in Gort at the Lady Gregory Hotel.  It was here that the Kleimon electric hair clipper was electrocuted

.  Half way through Rob's weekly haircut, Lana noticed that the clippers were emitting a stinky smoke.  Sure enough, while the converter worked in Australia, it DID NOT work with Ireland's electricity.  Improvising, Rob's haircut was completed with a disposable razor and the fried hair clipper was disposed of OFF the hotel premises.  The Stewarts had ventured into town earlier, so Rob and I walked to The Gallerey Cafe for a fabulous dinner! Luckily, our hotel, The Lady Gregory, had phoned ahead and secured the last reservation for the evening.  Our perfect Irish day ended with everyone's concurrence that today was a perfect today to be in Ireland!
