Normandy bound - Wednesday, March 11, 2015

It is a glorious, sunny French day as we head off to the Normandy coast, but first we need a coffee break in the gorgeous seaside town of HonFluer.  I can't help but notice all of the amazing mistletoe in the trees as we drive! The harbor is breath-taking!!!!

Boyfriend Alan has done an amazing job on the historical homework of the World War II D-Day Invasion.  It is like traveling with a historian, pointing out all of the WW II significant places.  We make a stop at the Pegasus Bridge Memorial where the British Gliders invaded.

We continue our drive, stopping for coffee and hot chocolate after Sword Beach.
Then drove past Gold Beach and Juno Beach.
Finally, we arrive in Bayeaux, where we'll spend the next four evenings at the Hotel Bayeaux. I'm thrilled that our hotel is next door to the cathedral.  The hourly bells are so......European!   Love it! We enjoy a fantastic dinner at Assiette Normandie where we're humbled by the various signs in the windows, "Welcome Veterans" and "Welcome Liberators."
