We (Rob, MeMe and I) left Atlanta in the drizzle and returned to Atlanta in the drizzle, but in between, we enjoyed "The Sunshine State" for several days!
Three hours into our trip south, the drizzle stopped and the sun appeared! We enjoyed warmth and sunshine as we traveled to Ocala, FL. After checking into the Holiday Inn, we ventured off to Harry's Seafood Bar and Grill for a fabulous meal. Once again, Trip Advisor was right on!
The next day, we drove to Pinellis Park where MeMe would spend the next few days with her brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Sharon Gilmore. We then drove to Tampa for a "reconnect" with Phil Collins, an Army buddy from long ago. We spent hours remembering the old good ol' days!
The following day we drove to Dunedin to meet Pete and Sandy Dabrowski, another couple from our Fort Eustis, VA Army days. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Bon Appetitt overlooking the Gulf while the time flew by as we caught up on the many years since we were last together.
Next stop - Howey-in-the-Hills for our traditional New Year's celebration with Barb and Frank Tricomi. Golf, shopping in Mt. Dora, movies, celebrating with Ann/Duncan, and amazing meals make this annual visit wonderfully relaxing. Too quickly the time passed, and we found ourselves driving back home. Everything was great until we were 100 miles from home, and suddenly, the traffic halted as we crept back to Marietta. Our normal seven hour drive took nine plus hours. Mental note - since we're retired, there is NO reason to ever travel back to Atlanta on a holiday weekend!
