Arizona 2 - 6 May 2024

May 2, 2024 - Here we go, on another "Bonus" trip and we're beyond excited to be traveling to see Rachelle, Rich, Connor AND their new home in Surprise, Arizona!  Just last summer, they were visiting us and finalizing the details of this new home.  The traveling was easy for Rob, for which we are very grateful. We were delighted to enjoy our time there with Amy and her darling little girl, Jamie. Rachelle made a fabulous dinner, and then we all enjoyed watching television to end a fabulous day.

May 3, 2024 - Rich took Rob to get his beard trimmed, while Rachelle and I enjoyed a wonderful hike close to their home.  The weather was comfortable, and I really enjoyed all the patriotic messages honoring the military on this trail.

Later in the afternoon, Connor drove over. As we were leaving the house, the thought occurred to me that this was the first time I would be riding in a car driven by one of my grandchildren.  Connor is an excellent driver, I learned as he navigated to Top Golf! We spent the next couple of hours practicing our golf swing and having a great time.

We dined at Thunderbirds to celebrate (belated) Rich's birthday.  Everyone agreed that the dinner was truly outstanding.

May 4, 2024 - The guys went shopping for a new grill, our housewarming gift.  So, the girls enjoyed a little retail therapy. Rachelle and I had great luck at the Outlet Mall, and especially enjoyed shopping for Jamie. Shopping for little girls is SO MUCH FUN! Afterwards, we enjoyed a fabulous lunch!

Upon returning home, we found the Kleimon men and dogs relaxing.

We had lots of laughs at a Japanese Hibachi restaurant, as the chef tossed food for everyone (except Bubbie) to catch in his/her mouth. Once back home, Rich hooked up the TV outdoors so we could look at my African safari pictures. I still need to eliminate many of my duplicate pictures.  It's so hard to take any of the pictures out because each one seems SOOOOO important, but I'll work on it.

May 5, 2024 - Another gloriously beautiful day, so Rachelle and I headed out for another, longer hike. At first, the trail was very quiet, almost like we had the trail entirely to ourselves.  I loved looking at all the different foilage. At one point, little desert animals gave us a scare when they darted across the trail. Then the horseback riders appeared. Luckily, all the action didn't take place until the end of our hike.

Once we returned home, it was time to do a little cooking for dinner.  It's such a pleasure to cook in their very spacious kitchen!  Another added bonus - Connor made us the most amazing Old Fashions!

We took a little break and went out for a relaxing motorcycle ride.  I rode with Rich while Rachelle and Connor rode separate bikes. Later, we enjoyed a lovely family dinner.

July 6, 2024 - Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to our Arizona family.  We had such a lovely time with everyone. I needed a little more baby giggles from sweet Jamie.

We'll miss all of our Arizona family including our sweet "fur baby" family.  Until next time.

March 2024 Cruise - Celebrity Equinox

 March 13, 2024

A second "Bonus Cruise" as we travel to Fort Lauderdale to spend the night before boarding the Equinox tomorrow for the Caribbean.  Once again, Delta, the Atlanta airport staff, and the Port Everglades staff have made this cruise a pleasure. Our cabin is lovely and located close to the elevator so Rob can easily head to the Cafe El Bacco for coffee or the main dining room.

March 16, 2024

George Town, Grand Cayman - today I'm taking a bike excursion, which I hope that I won't regret.  The total trip is supposed to be 7 miles as we explore the town, to include "Hell."

I made it!! HOWEVER, I was the oldest person in the group.  How do I get myself in these situations????

March 19, 2024
Oranjestad, Aruba
Another beautiful island.  I went on a butterfly excursion today.  It really was fun! I so so many beautiful butterflies.

March 20, 2024  Today, we were in Willemstad, Curacao! Another great day.Two days at sea - YES!! We love our Sea Days.

And another fabulous cruise comes to an end! SO grateful for another bonus cruise!!!

January 2024 Cruise with the Stewarts

January 14, 2024 - A "Bonus Cruise" for us, as Rob was not supposed to live beyond 2023! So, we flew to Fort Lauderdale, stayed at our favorite hotel with a wonderful restaurant, and the next day we boarded our Celebrity ship, the Silhouette for a 10-day Caribbean Cruise with T and Alan Stewart. Rob brought his cane, and our cabin is close to the elevator, so we're optimistic that this cruise will be a success!

January 15, 2924

Our first evening was a night I will always remember!  The Stewarts had made arrangements for my 70th birthday to be celebrated!! They had many special gifts plus a delicious cake!

Our first port was St. Martin.  Rob got off the ship, in a wheelchair, so he could purchase a new I-pad.  Success! The salesman was so kind, bringing an I-pad out for Rob to examine.  I then wheeled Rob back to the ship, and took a water taxi with T and Alan back into town.  We had a very successful shopping spree - new camera for me, cologne, spirits, and a new watch for T!

Jan 19, 2024 - Roseau, Dominica - Today, we went on a whale-watching cruise. We spotted several whales, but unfortunately, the water was rough and poor T did not feel great.  Luckily, once on shore, she felt better.

January 20, 2024

After yesterday's rough waters, T decided to stay on the ship, so Alan and I took a glass bottom boat to explore Buccoo Reef.  The day was beautiful, but the reef was rather "blah".

January 21, 2024

Bridgetown, Barbados - I took a walk to the terminal to do a bit of shopping with T.  We purchased clear coconut extract and a cute bracelet for Lily.

We found a favorite bar for our Happy Hour with a delightful bartender named Victor.

January 22, 2024

Port of St. Johns. We all opted to stay on board because it was raining, and enjoy the quiet of our beautiful ship.  We all joined Rob in the Cafe El Bacco for coffee, reading, needlework, sudoku, etc.

We had such a fabulous cruise feeling incredibly blessed!

Traveling back home was easy!

Kleimon-Kruger Family Reunion Alaskan Cruise July 6 - 14, 2023

July 6, 2023  -  Rob, Ari, Robert Hicks and I began our adventure from Atlanta to Seattle for our annual Kleimon-Kruger Reunion.  It was a tad bit trickier this year since Rob's cancer was causing a few mobility issues.  Robert Hicks drove us to the ATL airport, where Delta Airlines quickly provided us with a wheelchair for Rob. Within minutes we were at the gate and on our way to Seattle. After our flight, Delta quickly provided another wheelchair to retrieve our baggage and head to the Ride Share section of the airport. We rode to our hotel, Maxwell Pineapple Place, and checked in.  Ari, Robert and I walked around the city for a while, and Rob napped. We enjoyed an early dinner, and then Robert H., Ari, and I ventured over to the Space Needle for our sunset reservation. We had so much fun!

July 7, 2023  Seattle, Washington and then Sail Away on Ovation of the Seas

Since our bodies were not sure what time we were supposed to be in, we woke up kind of early, SO Ari, Robert Hicks and I took a Lyft over to the original Starbucks where we enjoyed fabulous coffee, then walked over to the Public Market for some serious breakfast.  First, we stopped to watch the famous "fish throwing" at the Market.  It was absolutely hysterical. Then we walked over to the recommended bagel and donut places. OMG!!!!!! We had such a feast.  We had to walk off all those calories, so we roamed the Market.  We couldn't get over how cheap the beautiful flowers were.  Robert and I took so many pictures.  Ari purchased some local honey from a lady who has sold honey in the Market for over 25 years.  She drives over 50 miles each way from her home in Washington to see the honey.

By the time we returned to the hotel, it was time to gather our belongings and head over to our port.  Luckily for my Robert, the process of boarding our ship was fast and easy.  Once on board, we had to wait a short while for our room to be ready, so we enjoyed a little lunch. Sail away was lovely, as always, and dinner with our extended family was delightful.  We were so excited to be with Robin, David, Lily, Nancy, Jim, Don, Lori, and Nancy's cousin, Brian.

July 8, 2023  Day at Sea, traveling through the inside passage. Everyone went their own separate ways today - relaxing, playing ping pong, basketball, reading, napping, and EATING!!! I was very proud of Rob for making it to dinner! He's only been out of the hospital for a week!

July 9, 2023, Juneau, Alaska  HAPPY 14TH BIRTHDAY, DAVID!!!!!

Our first day on Alaskan soil, well for most of us anyway.  For Rob and I, it was our third Alaskan cruise! Most of us were going on a whale-watching expedition, so we boarded our bus to catch the vessel.  It was a gloriously warm, sunny day, and the crew kept telling us how lucky we were to have lovely weather.

We hadn't traveled too far until we began spotting whales.  It was like the whales had been waiting for us to perform.  At one point, we saw a pod of sixteen humpback whales.  Then we saw some whales "bubbling" which is a technique (bubble net) that the humpbacks use to confuse and trap fish. Next, we saw a mother whale and her baby.  We learned so much about the humpbacks! Unfortunately, Robert Hicks got seasick and did not enjoy most of the experience. We rode past Mendenhall Glacier which seemed significantly smaller than the last time I saw it.

Back on dry land, Robert felt better so we explored the town of Juneau, also Alaska's capital.

We had a fabulous dinner celebrating David's 14th Birthday.  What a birthday to remember!

July 10, 2023, Skagway, Alaska - HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, ROBERT HICKS!!!!

Another sunny, beautiful Alaskan day. I was nervous about returning to Skagway since the last time I was here, my father was medivac back to Juneau due to illness. Luckily, today was a much better day. We had two excursions booked.  First, several of us went to an Alaskan Husky Camp.  Lily and David were in heaven with all the puppies and dogs.  Once again, we learned so much about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. It is an annual long-distance sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome.  We enjoyed some s'mores and then hiked a little before returning to the ship.

After lunch back on board, we took a lovely train ride from Skagway. The scenery was breath-taking! It was a train ride that I will always remember.  I was so happy that Robert H. was able to spend his 40th birthday in Alaska, especially in beautiful Skagway!

That night we had another celebration at dinner, this time honoring Robert Hicks!

July 11 - Sitka, Alaska

Today, wasn't exactly sunny, more like overcast, but at least no rain. Our excursion today was to see seals, otters, and sea lions. We saw so much more - eagles and many other birds, whales and a volcano!!! Sitka was a quaint little town, and while there, all I could think of was "The Proposal" and how gorgeous the scenery was.  It did not disappoint.  The Minnesota folks enjoyed King Crab at a local restaurant.

July 12, Day at Sea - Another one of my favorite days doing some of my favorite things like "Silent Disco" with my family.  We had such fun!!!  Later, the whole group played games per David's request!  I loved that he wanted to do this.  Everyone laughed hysterically, and I will always treasure this wonderful time together.  Then, before dinner, we had a group picture taken.  The Kodak Queen is smiling.

July 13, Victoria, B.C.

Sunshine is back along with an action-packed day!  I had some time before our afternoon excursion so I rode the Hop On-Hop Off around Victoria since I had been here before. It was informative and a quick way to see the city.  I went back to the port to meet up with Robin, Ashley, David, and Lily to go on our zip-lining excursion.  The bus ride was entertaining and in no time we were surrounded by trees and beautiful mountains. This zip-lining experience was a bit more challenging for this 69-year-old Bubbie! My muscles hurt for days after, but the view was totally amazing!

July 14, Farewell for now.....

Saying farewell was tough! Rob's diagnosis left everyone fearful that they would never see him again. Our trip to the airport was effortless and the trip home was smooth EXCEPT Ari and Robert's luggage was left at the Seattle Cruise Terminal. It took a few days, and lots of phone calls, but they did receive their luggage with all the contents, including the honey Ari purchased along the way!

Mariner of the Seas Caribbean Cruise May 26 - June 2, 2023

May 25, 2023 - Last day of the  2023 school year for David and Lily! So, we loaded up the car and drove to Leesburg, VA. We checked into the Hampton Inn, enjoying a few snacks since we had stopped for dinner along the way.  Tomorrow, we'll continue our drive to Port Canaveral!

May 26, 2023 - After an easy drive to the Space Coast, we unloaded, parked, and easily boarded the beautiful Mariner of the Seas.  David and Lily immediately put on bathing suits and dashed off to have fun in the fun, while Rob and I had lunch. Then I unpacked all the luggage.

We were put at a table for eight at dinner, but the other folks never showed, so we enjoyed a huge table! After dinner, the kids went off to hang out with other kids, while we went back to the room to relax.

May 27, 2023  Coco Cay, Bahamas - We always enjoy a visit back to Coco Cay.  Today, we had a beach pass to the Water Park.  We found the perfect lounger spot to park Bubbie while David and Lily went on every water slide in the park. They did take a break for us to enjoy our lunch together. The weather was perfect, minus a short threat of a rain shower, which quickly disappeared. We went back to the ship around 3:00 since the ship was sailing at 4:00.

May 28 - 29, 2023 - Days at Sea - my personal favorite.  Rob and I had a relaxing breakfast together each morning, while David and Lily enjoyed sleeping in.

Eventually, they had to leave the room so our cabin attendant could clean our room. Lily and I met up at the pool for some girl time and fancy drinks!

Everyone enjoyed his/her day relaxing and having fun.  As always, we meet each evening for dinner to share about our day.

May 30, 2023 - Curacao  -  A new destination for David and Lily. Bubbie is especially happy to go to Curacao because it is the home of her favorite Braves player, Ossie Albies!  We find our excursion bus to take us on our Viator "Swim with the Sea Turtles" excursion.  Our leader is fantastic!  He is funny, informative, and really proud of Curacao. The sea turtles are amazing!!!! We snorkel with them, and they swim extremely close to us. Our guide shares all of his videos and pictures with us!  After the swim, we went to another beach for lunch and a swim.  It was a "Chamber of Commerce" weather day and we had SO much fun!

May 31, 2023 - Aruba - Another new destination for David and Lily! We booked another Viator excursion to go parasailing.  To say that I was a bit nervous, but I really wanted my grandchildren to have this experience, so off I went!

We took a local taxi to the resort for parasailing.  I immediately noticed how much Aruba had developed since my last visit there probably ten years ago.  Wow!

We arrived and received our safety briefing.  Originally, I had been told that three of us could parasail together, but that wasn't true.  Instead, only two people could go up at a time.  David graciously agreed to go with the other gal in the group. I was so proud of him!  Lily and I went up first.  I convinced myself that I WOULD enjoy this experience, and truly, I did.  I would do it again.  The feeling up in the air was sensational!

June 1, 2023 - Final Day at Sea - Another gorgeous day to enjoy as we travel from the western Caribbean back to the Atlantic Ocean. Our time together has been relaxing and rejuvenating. I think we all enjoyed every moment because Rob's recent diagnosis of cancer has made us aware that time is precious.

June 2, 2023 - Time to leave the ship, but we still have some more fun planned.  Rob and I had decided that if everything went smoothly, we'd take a detour home to have an airboat ride. So, we traveled to Tom and Jerry's in Leesburg, FL to take an airboat ride.  We had such an amazing time spotting alligators, turtles, all sorts of beautiful birds, and great scenery everywhere!  The kids were squealing and laughing the entire time.  Afterwards, David and Lily got to hold baby alligators.

We traveled safely back home, tired but smiling with so many happy memories to cherish!
