Destination Disney - 2017

Sunday, June 4, 2017

Left Marietta at 0830 hours - destination Disney!  As always, David and Lily were fabulous travelers!
We stopped for a quick lunch, then drove on to Shades of Green Resort where we met Uncle Ari and Robert.  After getting settled into our room (202) we headed down to Maggiano's for a delicious dinner. We all went to bed fairly early because we wanted a good night's rest for tomorrow's big day!

After a fabulous buffet breakfast, we left on the 0900 hours bus to the ticket booth to get our vouchers loaded onto our Magic Bands.  Not only did we luck into the nicest Disney employee, but also managed to have a gal from Barcelona who gave us a great recommendation for lunch when we cruise in October.

Within minutes, we were inside the Magic Kingdom!
Our first Fast Pass was for the Haunted Mansion, and then we headed over to Splash Mountain.  Poor Bubbie was really worried, and even Lily had second thoughts, BUT we LOVED it!
Next, we went to Pirates of the Caribbean for another great ride.  By this time, we were all getting a little hot, so we returned to Shades of Green to have lunch at Evergreens.  We decided to cool off some more at the waterpark, Typhoon Lagoon, where Robert H. took Lily and David into the HUGE wave pool.  To Bubbie, it looked like a tsunami!
We returned back to the resort, and Bubbie, Robert H., David and Lily went back to the Magic Kingdom.  The Jungle Cruise was fun, the fireworks were amazing, but the Seven Dwarves Mine Train was the bomb!  Wow, did we have fun!
The ferry wait was REALLY long, but we finally made it back to the resort around 2300 hours.  Bubbie had a record "steps" day with 22,138!

Today's destination - Animal Kingdom!  After another terrific breakfast, we boarded the 0930 hours bus for our next adventure.  Our first Fast Pass was for the Festival of the Lion King, which is truly an incredible show!  Afterwards, we roamed over to Pandora, Disney's newest attraction that opened on May 27th.  It looks fabulous, and we plan to go back to see it one evening.
Our Kilimanjaro Safari was absolutely captivating!  We saw SO MANY animals!  Next, we had to let Zaydie stop at Starbucks, so we all enjoyed a little break.  The sky started to look really threatening, so we decided to take the next bus back to the resort.  Luckily, we made it to the covered bus stop before the thunderstorm begin.  Perfect timing, since we all decided that we needed a restful afternoon.  Bubbie did a bit of laundry, while updating this blog, while the rest of the gang napped, played games, read, etc.

After another delish dinner at Maggiano's, the evening event was fun at the arcade, then early to bed in preparation for tomorrow's adventure!

Today's new adventure - Sea World!  We arrived in less than 20 minutes and easily sailed into the park.
Our first stop was Stingray City.  David and Lily fed the stingrays, then we moved on to the seal, otter, sea lion and walrus show, which was fabulous.

Once out of the show, the showers started, so we ducked inside the Sharks Grill for lunch.  This is an absolutely awesome restaurant connected to the Shark Encounter, so David and Lily were mesmerized by the sea life during our delicious lunch!
By now, the rain was pretty steady, so we put on our ponchos, and visited the awesome Shark Encounter.  From there, we walked to the Dolphin show, which was fantastic.  Unfortunately, the rain was really coming down, so we made a quick stop in a toy store for David and Lily to purchase some treasures, and headed back to the resort.
While in the gym, Bubbie noticed that the rain had stopped, so she checked with the golf pros who said that the course was going to be dry for a couple of hours.  Naturally, she dashed out to play.  The course was quiet, with only six deer and two turkeys, so she finished her round in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Once back at the resort, she took David and Lily out for a while to the two resort pools.  Ahhhhh, truly relaxing.
We all enjoyed the Asian buffet, and now everyone is quietly relaxing before bed.

Hollywood Studio, here we come!

Our first Fast Pass was Indiana Jones, and immediately after the show, Lily and David were lucky enough to meet the stars!
After lunch, we scurried over to Toy Story to use our second Fast Pass. Robert H. was the high point scorer!  Then, Lily and David had fun getting their faces painted.

Then, as luck would have it, we happened to walk by a photo opportunity with "the Ducks"!
We headed back to our resort for some quiet time, then Lily, Robert H. and Bubbie took the bus back to Animal Kingdom to check out the new park, Pandora, at night.  But, before the darkness, we decided to ride a few rides:
Finally, we ventured over to Pandora, and WOW, is it beautiful!
The black lights made everything glow in the dark.  Awesome!!!!!

How can this be?   Our last full day at Disney.  After a fabulous buffet breakfast, Ari, Robert H., David, Lily, and Bubbie took the monorail to Epcot.  We first did a bit of shopping, and then rode the clams through Nemo and Friends and Soarin.  Then we enjoyed the show, Turtle Talk with Crush.  Robert H. and Ari decided to head back to the resort, but the rest of us had a little snack, and the rode Planet Ship Earth.  From there we traveled back to the Magic Kingdom to pick up a few treasures.
Back at the resort, we rested for a while, and then spent a couple of hours at the pool.  We all enjoyed our last dinner with our favorite server, Janisa.  Uncle Ari took David and Lily to the arcade while Bubbie and Zaydie packed for our trip home tomorrow.
