Our home on wheels

Now that we're back home, we're busy planning our next journey in our Forrest River Sterling fifth wheeler pulled by our Chevy Silverado truck.  Next destination:  Mt. Rushmore after a stop in Minnesota for a family reunion!

Farewell Pensacola for now....

We had a fabulous time!!!  David's conversation with Lily sums it up beautifully:

Lily:  "David, what day do we have to go home?"
David"  "You're going home tomorrow.  I am never leaving here!"

June 20, 2014

Today was just one of those PERFECT DAYS!!!!  We traveled less than an hour from the campground to visit Jane and Dick Smith.  We last saw the Smiths when we left our Army assignment in Sagamihara, Japan twenty-eight years ago. David and Lily LOVED swimming in the

Smith's beautiful pool.  We all enjoyed a delicious lunch and an even better, leisurely visit. Afterwards, we returned to the campground just as a typical Florida summer storm arrived.  While waiting for the storm to pass, David assembled a couple of puzzles and Lily colored.  Once the sun came back out, we returned to the beach to build sandcastles and feed the seagulls.

Pensacola Camping Trip

June 18, 2014 - Traveled from Marietta, GA with grandchildren, David and Lily, for our first "retirement" camping trip.  The ride was easy, the weather was great, and the campground is perfect!  The beach is across the street and an ideal beach for preschoolers because the water is crystal clear, the sand is like sugar, and the waves are just large enough to generate shrieks of delight!  Happy Birthday, Ari!
June 19, 2014 - Since we're all still on Eastern Time, we were up early and on the beach by 0900.  David and Lily LOVED seeing the tiny fish swimming along with them.  We played on the beach until lunchtime, then took a quick dip in the campground pool.  After lunch we all rested inside our camper (okay, Lily and Zaydie actually napped) and then repeated the morning routine in the afternoon.

Pensacola, FL or bust

Our first "retirement" adventure includes taking our grandchildren, David and Lily, to Pensacola, FL camping in our fifth wheel RV.  We're loading, checking our lists, shopping, checking our lists, rechecking our lists, and crossing our fingers for sunshine and a safe journey.  Stay tuned....
